Find Concerta in stock near you

Generic name methylphenidate ER (OROS)

On the FDA shortage list

We call pharmacies near you and ask if they actually have Concerta on the shelf, so you get a real answer instead of an afternoon on hold. Any US ZIP code works, from New York City's five boroughs to everywhere else.

$35 a search, or as low as $15 in a pack. If no pharmacy has it, your credit goes back on your account.

Is Concerta in shortage right now?

Yes. The FDA has listed Concerta as in shortage since July 2023.

It tracks 34 products from 6 manufacturers. As of its October 1, 2026 update, 6 are unavailable, 9 are in limited supply and 19 are available again. The reasons the FDA gives: demand increase for the drug and discontinuation of the manufacture of the drug.

A national shortage doesn't hit every pharmacy the same way. Some stores near you may have it while others are out, and the only way to know is to ask them.

Controlled substance
Concerta is a DEA Schedule II controlled substance. Pharmacies manage its stock tightly, which is part of why it can be hard to find.

Its strengths (18, 27, 36 and 54mg) belong to this tablet design, and generic versions are sold in the same strengths. Search for the exact strength on your prescription.

Stock is strength-specific: a pharmacy can have the 20mg in stock and be completely out of the 10mg. Always search for the exact strength on your prescription.

Why Concerta can be hard to find

Stimulant ADHD medications have been in and out of nationwide shortage since late 2022, when manufacturing quotas and surging demand collided. Because most are Schedule II controlled substances, pharmacies can't freely move stock between locations, and many stores limit how much they keep at once. A prescription can also be transferred to another pharmacy only once, and only before it's filled. The practical result: one pharmacy can be completely out while another a mile away has a full shelf, and the only way to know is to ask each store directly.

Rather call around yourself? Here's how to check whether a pharmacy has it, with what to ask.

How RxFinder works

  1. Tell us what you need

Pick your medication, the exact strength on your prescription, and your ZIP code.

  2. We call the pharmacies

Our automated calling system phones nearby pharmacies, several at a time, and asks whether your medication and strength are on the shelf right now.

  3. You get a straight answer

See which pharmacy said yes and what they told us on the call, with the store's address and phone number so you can confirm and head over.

Example What your results look like. An illustration, not a real call.
  • Pharmacy 0.4 miles awayIn stockYes, we have the Concerta 27mg. Plenty on the shelf.
  • Pharmacy 0.9 miles awayOut of stockWe're out of the 27mg right now, but we do have the 36mg.
  • Pharmacy 1.3 miles awayNo answerNobody picked up, so we moved on to the next pharmacy.

A shortage isn't always a dead end

Medication shortages are a frustrating reality, but being out of your exact strength doesn't have to mean waiting. Often a nearby pharmacy has a different strength of the same medication on the shelf, and your prescriber can take it from there. Normally that means calling pharmacy after pharmacy yourself. We do the calling for you, so you can bring your doctor a real, in-stock option instead of a dead end.

Message for your prescriber

Paste this into your doctor's patient portal. It only asks your prescriber whether an available option would work. Your doctor decides what's appropriate. RxFinder doesn't recommend doses and this isn't medical advice.

Common questions

What pharmacy has Concerta in stock near me?

No pharmacy publishes its stock, so the only reliable way to know is to ask each one. RxFinder does the asking: we call pharmacies near your ZIP code about Concerta in your exact strength, and show you which one said yes.

Can I move my Concerta prescription to a pharmacy that has it?

Usually, once. Under a DEA rule in effect since August 2023, an electronic prescription for a controlled substance that hasn't been filled yet can be transferred one time to another pharmacy, at your request. Ask the pharmacy that has Concerta whether they will request the transfer; if they won't, your prescriber can send a new prescription there.

Is the stock information guaranteed?

No. It's what the pharmacy told us on a real call, and inventory moves fast. Always call the pharmacy to confirm before traveling. If we don't find your medication in stock, your credit goes straight back: every search is a success or your credit back.

Do I need a prescription to search?

No. Searching only tells you where Concerta is reported in stock. Filling it still works the normal way, with your own prescription at the pharmacy, and since this is a controlled substance, your prescriber may need to send the prescription to the specific pharmacy that has it.

How much does it cost?

$35 a search, or as low as $15 in a pack. If no pharmacy has it, your credit goes back on your account. One flat price covers however many pharmacies we need to call, and a credit that comes back can be used on another search. Rather have the money? Ask for a refund to your card within 14 days of purchase.

Yes. Enter any US ZIP code and we look up the pharmacies near it and call them about Concerta. We started in New York City, where we have thousands of pharmacies on file across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, chains and independents alike, and a search anywhere else works the same way.
